Workbook / Bankroll Brief / Set a limit
Step one / the ceiling
Choose a figure that changes nothing else.
This page turns "be careful" into a specific number. Work through it once, write the result down, and treat it as fixed for the period you chose.
List your non-negotiables
Rent, bills, food, transport, savings, debt repayments. None of these may fund the bankroll, ever.
Choose only disposable money
Whatever remains — and that you would genuinely not miss — is the candidate ceiling. If the number embarrasses you, it is probably right.
Divide by four
Split the monthly ceiling into weekly allowances. A weekly figure is easier to notice when it runs out.
Set the same cap at the operator
Enter it as a deposit or loss limit so the system enforces it, not your memory.
Write the date and the number
Record it somewhere you will see it. A limit you cannot recall is a limit you do not have.
Rules that make the number stick
- No top-ups. Running out early means the week is over, not that the ceiling was wrong.
- No borrowing. Credit, overdrafts and loans are never part of a bankroll.
- No recovery framing. Staking to win back a loss is the single most expensive habit in this subject.
- Review monthly, calmly. Adjust the ceiling only between periods, never during one.
Ceremony is the point. The value here is not the arithmetic — it is that you decided once, in advance, and can point at a number when a session starts to feel urgent.
